Friday, May 30th, 2008: San Diego Hurler Captures 350th Victory
It was a special day at Petco Park for San Diego's Greg Maddux. The Padres ace logged his 350th career win against the Giants. In the 10-4 decision Maddux tossed 6 innings, surrendered 8 hits with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.

"I'm real fortunate that I had the opportunity to play with such good players during my career," said Maddux. "I just couldn't have drawn it up any better. I'm glad I did it in this uniform, too. San Diego is a great organization to play for."

So far in his career, the 42-year-old Maddux has put up a 3.12 ERA with 350 wins and 215 losses.
Friday, May 30th, 2008: Carmona out 1-2 Weeks with Injury
Cleveland fans will be disappointed to learn that Fausto Carmona developed a strained back muscle while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Cleveland Indians manager that Carmona was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the starting pitcher could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

This year Carmona has posted a 6-2 mark in 12 starts and has a 3.56 ERA.
Thursday, May 29th, 2008: Gordon Makes it Official, Will Retire
It's a somber day for Phillies fans as Tom Gordon announced that he will retire at the end of the 2008 season. The Philadelphia reliever attributed his retirement to his age and loss of skills.

"I'm not the type of player I want to be anymore," he said. "It's harder go out there and be competitive. I'm not at the end of my rope yet, but I've seen guys hang around too long. I'm not going to be one of them."

A look at Gordon's career stats shows he has 157 saves with a 135-121 record and a 3.93 ERA.
